Files and Tracks

What formats are the master files in?

44.1k WAV and 320kbps mp3. The master zip file contains both.

Can I download a preview copy of a track?

Yes. If you register you can download an mp3 copy of the track to try in your production

I like a track, but I need a different mix. Can you do that?

Almost certainly. Nearly all tracks have submixes, so that’s a good place to look first. If you don’t find what you want, in most cases it will be possible to make a slightly different mix of a track. This will be done by the composer, and the turnaround time will depend on his/her availability. There will be an additional charge for this.

Can I make project folders of favorite tracks?

Absolutely. Click on the ‘Save’ button in the track player. You can save the track to an existing project folder or make a new folder.

Licenses

Is there a limit to the length of time I can use a track that I have licensed?

All the standard licenses allow you to use the track in a specific production in perpetuity (forever). If the production is later altered in any way, it’s considered a new production and a new license will need to be purchased.

Are you flexible if I want to purchase multple licenses?

We certainly can be, depending on the needs. Please get in touch to discuss.

If I purchase a subscription and then at a later date stop the subscription, are the tracks still covered in perpetuity?

Yes. Any track that is used in a production that is made during the term of a subscription is covered in perpetuity. If the production is altered in any way after the license expires (and is not renewed), it’s considered a new production and a license will need to be purchased.

What is a Production Blanket?

A Production Blanket allows you to use as many tracks as you want from the Smart Media Music library in a single linear production. If the production is later altered in any way, it’s considered a new production and a new license will need to be purchased.

I want to use the same tracks in a production which changes from episide to episode. Do I need to buy a production blanket for every episode?

We will be happy to discuss special terms for needs like this.

I have special licensing needs and would like to discuss a custom rate. Can you do that?

Can I use a track in a production which is in a media format which is for sale? (eg DVD, Game)

Yes. A special license is needed for this. Please contact us.

What if I want to use a track for a purpose that is not covered by one of the 4 main license categories?

Please contact us to discuss. Every license need can be accomodated.

Payment

Can I pay by check or wire transfer?

Yes. Select from the pulldown menu under ‘Select Payment Method’. You will be sent a link for the master files once funds have cleared.

Can I pay by Debit/Credit card?

Absolutely. When you get to the PayPal page just fill in the info under ‘Don’t have a PayPal account?’. You can then pay by Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Amex.
